ACCOUNTING, TAX, AND BUSINESS ADVISORY SERVICES
Tax
We offer a variety of tax services to our clients: tax preparation and filing services, compliance assistance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and tax planning. Our tax preparation and compliance services include:
- Preparation and filing of individual, corporate, and trust tax returns
- Professional representation during CRA audits
- Assisting with submissions under the CRA Voluntary Disclosure Program (VDP)
- Preparation of Registered Charity Information Returns
Beyond the tax preparation and compliance services, we also provide tax planning services to business clients and individuals. Tax planning generally involves identifying favourable tax opportunities, assessing the merits of different tax strategies, providing appropriate recommendations and assisting with the implementation of recommendations. Tax planning covers:
- Corporate reorganizations
- Estate planning
- Use of Trusts
- Non-resident and off-shore taxes
- Determination whether to incorporate or not to incorporate a business
For certain complex tax transactions that require legal opinions, we have built strategic relationships with prominent tax lawyers in Vancouver, who can assist with providing opinions. Legal tax opinions are sometimes necessary not only to ensure the validity of tax transactions, but also to ensure the proper application of tax laws.
US Taxes: Our US tax services are limited to consultations on US-Canada tax issues affecting individuals and businesses. While we do not prepare or file US tax returns, we have partnered with an established IRS-registered firm, based in the Lower Mainland, to prepare our clients’ US tax returns. IRS regulations require that professional US federal tax preparers must have a valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) before preparing federal tax returns.
